Slaying the Sugar Dragon

So I had to take the 3 hour sugar test last week to check for Gestational Diabetes. I failed the 1 hour test by 7 points. The test wasn't too big a deal but I got stuck 4 times so they could take blood. By the end I had given blood in both arms at three different sites. But I got through it and made it most of the way through John Grisham's The Brethren.
I got the results the next Monday at my next appointment. My numbers were all very normal and mostly right in the middle of the range allowed. Of course they cautioned me about going over board with eating and that I still might be a little insulin resistant so still be careful. I don't know how much more careful I can be but I took it to heart anyway. I snack a little through out the day and I have been eating more carbs but I don't feel like I am eating a lot. To date I have gained about 13 lbs and since they are still reporting him to be on the big side don't think I am depriving him of food.
We also had our check up on the previa. Things are progressing - the placenta is no longer touching the cervix however it is not far enough away to give me the green light. Thanks for all your prayers in this area. They really seem to be working. The doctors would like to see it about 2-3 cm away from the cervix before they pass you through for natural delivery. During our ultrasound Liam's head was down in such a way that he was blocking most of the view of the placenta so it was hard to get a reading. Their best guess at the time was about 1.5 cm - so not far enough away. We made another appointment to check back on November 5th. If it hasn't moved enough by then...well then we will have a c-section. I'm not thrilled about it but I certainly want to do what's best for me and the baby.
Here's a cute picture of Liam's face from our last ultrasound. I hope you can make it out.
