Well here we are - just 5 days away from our due date of December 7th. "
A date which will live in infamy."
Let's see, since our last post there have been 2 doctor visits. I will recap for you.
November 16th - No dilation, no effacement. I find out my cervix is WAY in the back and my doctor has tiny hands.
November 26th - No dilation, no effacement. I guess all that turkey I ate at Thanksgiving put my uterus to sleep. Again with the tiny hands.
Our next appointment is tomorrow December 4th.
Some things that have happened worthy of note:
Jamie's Dad and step-mother brought us a chest of drawers that is doubling as a changing table. We were very excited as this was the last piece of furniture needed to complete the nursery. I got all the 0-3 months clothes washed and put away in the drawers. Only had to re-arrange the
drawers twice to fit everything in. The closet is another matter. We have been blessed with an abundance of receiving blankets. Not only do we have several stacks of new blankets we also have blankets from when I was a baby and when Jamie was a baby AND a huge stack of hand-me downs from a good friend. It's a good thing it's winter time and that kids needs to be swaddled.
Jamie's Mom, step-father and step-brother came to visit for Thanksgiving. We had a great visit and they brought Liam some cute baby clothes and a CUTE harness thing you can put on the kid when you go out shopping (see photo above). I guess Jamie was a fast kid and his mom thought we could use the extra help.
We finally got the picture hung in the room and for all intents and purposes we are ready. I am sure we will do some re-arranging once we start using the room but right now I think we are all set. I still need to wash all the clothe diapers but I need to make sure he's gonna fit into them before I go to all the trouble.
Yesterday I decided I needed a mobile. I was going to make one but I couldn't figure out how to clamp it to the side of the bed. My creative juices have just not been flowing very freely since I got pregnant. So we headed over to the Baby's R Us. Do you know how expensive this things are? It's crazy. Luckily I found a cute one on sale in the correct colors. I don't recommend last minute impulse shopping when you are 39 weeks pregnant. If you don't find what you are looking for it's a HUGE disappointment and all you end up with is a backache and the sense you have damage your child beyond repair even before it's born.
Oh and our washer broke - luckily Santa sent us a new one. THANKS SANTA!
So here I sit...waiting...I know there are things I could do to speed up the process - Castor oil, spicy food, sex. But what if he's not 'ready'? I don't want to push the kid out before the timer has gone off and the bun is good and done.
